WE ARE SO OVERWORKED!

Posted on 7:36 AM by feeqwfqewef
Award season is really Hollywood's Christmas and between the fittings and parties, none of us have had a chance to blog much about our latest goodies ranging from 80s edgy CDG to gowns galore! It's party time. Last night, good friends Rachael Harris and Ann Magnuson both donned vintage from Decades wearing Pauline Trigere and Halston, respectfully. Rach and I arrived in one of the super duper cute Gucci'd Fiats and the paps went crazy. Tonight is HEAVEN and tomorrow are the GLOBES. Hope to return to more active blogging by Monday. Forgive, but you don't want a bunch of naked icons on the red carpet, do you? We have duties!

SIN AND PASSION

Posted on 5:58 PM by feeqwfqewef
Being as busy as he usually is, nothing can stop Cameron from spotting a good bag. As we are setting up for our final casting for the Heaven Gala tomorrow we wanted to leave you with this stunning Hermes 40cm Birkin in rouge crocodile leather. It doesn't need a lot of words or comments on how beautiful and special this bag is since our talented in-house photographer Joe, has done a terrific job capturing the actual color and condition of this 2007 Birkin. It has its sleeper bag and has been refurbished and reconditioned by Hermes. Enjoy it!
-Eri

THE ART OF ELYSIUM PROUDLY ANNOUNCES THE 5TH ANNUAL HEAVEN GALA
BY VISIONARY CAMERON SILVER
HONORING ELIJAH WOOD WITH THE SPIRIT OF ELYSIUM AWARD
PRESENTED BY AUDI & RELATIVITY MEDIA
SATURDAY, JANUARY 14, 2012

Los Angeles, California – The Art of Elysium is holding their 5th Annual Heaven Gala on Saturday, January 14, 2012, the night before The Golden Globes, at The Downtown Los Angeles Historic Union Station. Cocktails begin at 7:00 pm with special performances by The Johnny Crawford Orchestra & Lucy Walsh, followed by Dinner and a fashion show by Cameron Silver, styled by Elizabeth Stewart at 8:00 pm with a musical performance by Estelle and other surprise guests, and after-party at 10:00pm. 2012 Heaven is being produced by Yifat of Yifat Oren & Associates and presented by Audi & Relativity Media. Special thanks to additional supporting sponsors: Beau Joie Champagne, Loree Rodkin Beauty, and Marina B for providing jewelry for the fashion show.

Cameron Silver’s Heaven will celebrate vintage glamour in a historic setting, with added modernity and future, guests will experience a journey through past and present decades. Silver selected the Los Angeles Union Station as it reminded him of the Golden Era of Hollywood, which he felt provided escapism and fantasy through films such as the 1939 Oscar winning Gone With the Wind, the same year the station was built. Silver explained, “My world is one of fabrics, patterns, proportions, color and texture - my Art. The thought of experiencing life without self-expression made possible by Art is a bleak one, but for a child it is even worse. The Art of Elysium brings art to hospitalized children, providing an outlet to express their experience and zest for life through art, which inspires my soul. More importantly, invigorating children by giving them wings to travel beyond the hospital bed to a world of imagination and hope. “ For years Silver has donated time and resources to The Art of Elysium, for this outstanding contribution he is being honored as their Visionary. Recently, he hosted an Art of Elysium workshop at his Decades boutique where girls brought fashion sketches of gowns they dreamed to design to wear at the Heaven gala. Silver said, “It was a blast helping bring their visions to life by pulling similar styles from our racks, referencing vintage images from our extensive library, and interacting with staff and shoppers. It wasn't a textbook "academic" experience. But that was never the point. “

Cameron will share the evening honors with fellow artist, Elijah Wood, who will be celebrated for his unwavering support of The Art of Elysium over the years, touching the lives of thousands of hospitalized children through his participation in various art programs, donating proceeds of his music sales on iTunes and his personal time volunteering. Wood will be presented with The Spirit of Elysium Award, dedicated to one extraordinary supporting artist each year. Wood shared, “I am constantly inspired by the work of The Art of Elysium, using the transportive power of art to heal and inspire children; elevating them beyond the confines of their pain and discomfort to engage them in creativity and beauty. It has enriched my life to be a part of this tirelessly dedicated family and the lives of the children they've transformed. Such a simple concept, to engage hospitalized children in all forms of art and it's extraordinary to experience its power.

Founder of The Art of Elysium, Jennifer Howell states, “The Art of Elysium’s idea of HEAVEN is the creative exchange between artists and children that empowers through art the healing process of the soul. HEAVEN was created to give a VISIONARY the creative license to share their ideal state of HEAVEN. This year we are honored to have Cameron Silver sharing his HEAVEN with us and are so blessed to be giving THE SPIRIT OF ELYSIUM award to Elijah Wood. Both Cameron and Elijah have shared their talents, hearts and passions with this organization and the 5th Annual HEAVEN promises to be an evening where the past, present and future are suspended within one moment. The music for the evening is under the direction of the brilliant Chris Holmes with a special performance by Estelle and a surprise band.
The following are confirmed to attend: David Arquette, Justin Bartha, Rachel Bilson, Gerard Butler, Scott Caan, Kirsten Dunst, Shepard Fairey, Andrea Fiuczynski, Ginnifer Goodwin, Topher Grace, Jennifer Morrison, Chanola Hampton, Amber Heard, Patrick M. Herning, Julianne Hough, Finola Hughes & Russell Young, Sarah Hyland, Minka Kelly, Jamie King, Kidada Jones, Rashida Jones, Ali Larter & Hayes MacArthur, Joe Manganiello, Rose McGowan, Patrik Milani, Alan Siegel & David Meister, Kimberly & Michael Muller, Amaury Nolasco, Amy Smart & Carter Oosterhouse, Aaron Paul, Rain Phoenix, Busy Philipps, Brittany Snow, Tarina Tarantino & Alfonso Campos, Ashley Tisdale, Michelle Trachtenberg, Kat Von D, and Alicia Witt.

The Heaven Gala was created to celebrate artists who provide outstanding support to the foundation each year through their vision and spirit, thus being awarded as “Visionary” and “Spirit of Elysium.” The Visionaries create their own version of Heaven on earth, much like the name Art of Elysium meaning Art in Heaven. Past Visionary & Spirit honorees have included; Director Jim Sheridan, Artist Shepard Fairey, Musician Mark Mothersbaugh, and Actors Eva Mendes, Kirsten Dunst and James Franco. For more information on The Art of Elysium please go to www.theartofelysium.org

The Art of Elysium is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization, founded in 1997 by Jennifer Howell, which encourages actors, artists and musicians to voluntarily dedicate their time and talent to children battling serious medical conditions. They provide artistic workshops in the following disciplines: acting, art, comedy, fashion, music, radio, songwriting, television, film and creative writing. They work with numerous hospitals and hospices throughout Los Angeles, California and began servicing hospitals in New York City in 2009.

WHY PEOPLE LOVE DECADES

Posted on 7:03 AM by feeqwfqewef
Decades is a very special store that offers services that are rather exceptional. Take for example, divine Independent Spirit Award nominated actress Rachael Harris (who also happens to be my neighbor). She has a VERY busy award season and Eri and I are having a blast and laughing too much as we pull together Rachael's various looks. Now we are not just wearing vintage and modern designer clothing from Decades. We are also calling all of our designer friends to pull samples and connecting the dots for shoes, jewels, as well as guiding her beauty teams on her hair and make up. The results are spectacular. Rachael has worn Michael Kors and Pauline Trigere in the last two nights and looking awesome. You don't have to be a nominated actress to get this level of service, because every associate at Decades functions like your personal stylist and we are here to serve you from head-to-toe and make sure you feel like a movie star and are always confident like Rachael is on the red carpet!

BONNIE AND CLYDE

Posted on 10:35 AM by feeqwfqewef
Two months ago I wrote about the passing of legendary costume designer Theadora Van Runkle. She famously costumed the stars above in the 1974 film "Bonnie and Clyde." I have a feeling the Emanuel Ungaro skirt suit below was likely inspired by the film and comes around the same year. Ungaro shortened the length of the skirt and uses a pattern that evokes the mid 70s in wool and lined in silk. This is the best part: It is marked size 12. Now I know
Annelise Peterson tweeted to me @Annelise007 yesterday that she can't get around buying a vintage garment that is marked a size 10 but fits a size 4 to 6. Remember Age ain't nothin' but a number and neither is size!

SOMEWHERE IT'S COLD OUTSIDE

Posted on 1:50 PM by feeqwfqewef
Today I am wearing yellow Jil Sander jeans and a grey V Neck tee-shirt. It is the third day of January. It is nearly 80 degress in Los Angeles. This is winter the LA-way. To our friends in Moscow, we have something to keep you toasty under your Bargouzine in 27 degree weather. This Jean Muir grey flannel dress with rust contrast stiching and pleated front panel has full sleeves reminescent of a Russian peasant blouse. The hidden pockets are perfect to warm your Perrin Paris-gloved hands and throw on some Wolford tights and a pair of boots and close your eyes and you just might be able to pretend you are under the LA-sun or at least you will be that warm thanks to this Jean Muir dress that's strong enough for a Moscow winter or an evening stroll in Montecito.

L'OFFICIEL

Posted on 12:36 PM by feeqwfqewef
It's official according to L'Officiel March 1934. This rose pink silk satin bias cut gown designed by Charlotte Revyl bares a striking resemblance to a design of Madame Revyl's illustrated above in L'Officiel delightfully called "Symphonie" in 1934. Popular songs in 1934 seemed to all be written by Cole Porter: from "Anything Goes" to "I Get a Kick out of You." Why I wouldn't be surprised if Reno Sweeney as played by Ethel Merman or Patti Lupone or Elaine Paige or Sutton Foster for that matter donned something similar while belting the brilliant songs of Porter. I am always aching for divine bias cut gowns from the 1930s but they tend to be primarily in dark colors or so compromised in lighter shades. For a nearly 90 year old show-stopper, this Revyl is certainly both "De-Lovely" and "The Top" so expect the unexpected "All through the Night" while wearing this symphonic and silky gown that will earn you a standing ovation. This post is pretty cliche-central, I must admit, but sometimes I just need to "Blog, Gabriel, Blog."

BRIGADOON

Posted on 11:11 AM by feeqwfqewef
Have you ever seen the Lerner and Loewe 1954 musical Brigadoon? It's about a magical Scottish village that only appears to outsiders every one hundred years. I reference Brigadoon because this 1930s bias cut gown bares a label for a shop from Edinburgh called Mamie and I must admit that this may be the one and only 30s gown to enter the hallowed walls of Decades baring a Scottish provenance. Thus, this is our little couture gown that is a mysterious to me as Brigadoon was to the American tourist Tommy who falls in love with Fiona, an ultimate femme fatale stuck in the 18th century who only appears on the fateful one-in-a-hundred-year's day when the two meet and well "It's Almost Like Being in Love." And love it is for this light rose hammered silk bias halter gown with train (don't worry it has a finger-ring so you can wear this down the red carpet without some an unfortunate heel incident) that may be as romantic as walking through "The Heather on the Hill." Pure old Hollywood 30s glam by way of Brigadoon, er, Edinburgh.
